Self Leveling Compound Calculator
Estimate self-leveling underlayment using the coverage printed on your product data sheet. Enter the reference coverage and thickness, then adjust for your average pour depth.
Changing a unit selector reinterprets the numbers; it does not convert your entries. Update the inputs before calculating. Prices are examples in your own currency.
How many bags of self leveling compound do I need?
Divide the floor area by the bag’s estimated coverage at your average depth. Coverage at the new depth equals reference coverage × reference depth ÷ average depth. Apply your chosen allowance and round up to whole bags. For areas with different depths, estimate each zone separately; avoid applying the deepest point to the whole floor.
Worked example: 200 square feet
The starting example uses 25 ft² per bag at 1/4 inch. For 200 ft² at that depth, eight bags are needed before allowance. With 10% extra, 8.8 rounds up to 9 bags. At 35 each, the estimated bag cost is 315. Doubling the average depth approximately doubles material demand before rounding.
Where does the example coverage come from?
Sakrete’s 50 lb self-leveling underlayment data sheet lists 25–30 ft² at 1/4 inch. The example uses the lower end, 25 ft². Replace it with your own current product’s coverage and its reference thickness. This calculator does not select a product or assert that every leveler can be poured at your entered depth.
Can I use millimetres and square metres?
Yes. Select metric, then enter both depths in millimetres and both areas in square metres. The ratio method works in either consistent system. Switching units does not convert existing numbers. The geometric volume is a cross-check; do not substitute dry bag weight for volume or assume it determines the amount of mixing water.
What is excluded?
Primer, lath, deep-hole repairs, delivery and installation costs are excluded. Follow the manufacturer’s substrate preparation, pour-depth limits and mixing instructions. Roughness and porosity affect actual yield, so a floor survey and product-specific check are useful before buying.
